What We Believe
The Bible
The Bible is truth. The scriptures says, "Thy word is truth" (John 17:17) The Bible is the inspired word of God and is relevant to every generation. It contains a correct account of the past, present and future destiny of man as well as this earth. Its historical record and prophecy has continued without parallel.
Who Was Jesus Christ?
Just who was the man that captivated so much attention from the time of His birth until His death, healing the sick, raising the dead, and forgiving sins? "He was God manifested in the flesh..." (II Corinthians 5:19). "Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us" (Matthew 1:23).
Salvation
Jesus came for the purpose of saving lost humanity. "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10). He paid the supreme sacrifice for sin by His death on the cross. Through His death, burial and resurrection, we have the promise of salvation.
After Jesus gave Peter the keys to the kingdom and Peter used his authority on the Day of Pentecost, the multitude asked an important question. "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" The answer to this important question is found in Acts 2:38. "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be Baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. "Repentance must proceed baptism. Repentance is feeling sorry for your sins, asking God to forgive them and then turning away from sin.
The early Christians were baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. No other baptism was used by the early church. Note these scriptures: Acts 2:36-41; Acts 8:16; Acts 19:5. Baptism is for the remission of sins.
All believers have the promise of the Holy Spirit as declared in Acts 2:39. The evidence of receiving the Holy Ghost is speaking in other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance. Note Acts 2:4; Acts 10:44- 48; Acts 19:6.
About Christian Living
As Christians we are to love God and love others. We are to worship God joyfully and seek to live a life that is pleasing to him both inwardly and outwardly—in our thoughts, words, and actions. We are empowered to live a life pleasing to God through the Holy Spirit. As a Pentecosal church, we believe that the supernatural gifts of the Spirit are for the church today and are available to all Spirit-filled believers (Mark 12.28-31; 1 Cor 12.8-10; 2 Cor 7.1; Rom 8.13-14; Gal 5.19-26; Heb 12.14).
About the Future
Jesus Christ is coming again to catch away his church. In the end will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death (1 Thes 4.16-17; Rev 20.11-15).
